Giovanni Mazzarino Quartet - LOVE VIBRATIONS
|
An honest, intimate, and yet brightful and inspired album: out now LOVE VIBRATIONS by Giovanni Mazzarino QuartetAfter five years from "Songs" the pianist and composer Giovanni Mazzarino momentarily retires the role of author (Pianiparalleli and Sikania the most recent original works of the 21 albums recorded in his name) publishing an album of Jazz standards and he does so by gathering around him three musicians, as well as friends, of full-bodied experience and dense inspiration such as the trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso, the double bass player Rosario Bonaccorso and the drummer Nicola Angelucci. To the intense ballad Love Vibration Mazzarino entrusts the burden of titling and opening this work, conceived as an anthology of beloved classics, some not always adequately considered in the repertoire of contemporary jazz musicians, proposed in authentic versions, those not "dirty" by a thousand harmonic adjustments , often incorrect, of the various "Real Books". How About You, Milan, Due Ellington Sound Of Love, How Deep Is The Ocean, just to name a few of the 12 tracks of the album, are stripped from the leader of all frills and played in purity, with a deep sense of the story in a gait music almost on tiptoe, deliberately declaring in an undertone his musical aesthetic gained in thirty-five years of Jazz. The grainy and elegant notes of Mazzarino’s phrases, the light embrace of Bonaccorso's lines, the discreet and essential tempo by Angelucci and the sound of Bosso, always melancholy and evocative, blend without protagonism, as in a walk among wonderful landscapes, when each is absorbed in his own step but at the same time in deep communion with the feelings of his companions. The album, produced and published by Jazzy Records, comes out with the videoclip of the track n. 1, Love Vibration by Horace Silver, entirely created by the label's creative factory, in which a ballerina dances the notes of the song on pointe in a deserted city, symbolizing the light and rarefied atmosphere that characterizes the sound of this work. Photographer Marco Ambrosi, on the other hand, is the author of the cover and of the internal images on the CD, in which the musicians are filmed surrounded by warm trails of light, vibrations of love for music.
